Wire binding is a very popular form of document finishing. It s fast, easy, and it can make your documents look extremely elegant. If you have a small office and you d like to get started with this type of bookbinding, there are three great wire binding machines you should check out. They come from such esteemed manufacturers as Akiles and OffiWire, and they all have features that you re going to love. Check them out...

1.) The Akiles OffiWire. Akiles is one of the better known names in the document finishing world thanks to great products such as the OffiWire. This machine is available in two pitches: 3:1 and 2:1. This device can punch up to 10 pieces of paper per lift. Depending on which version you use, you can use spines that are up to 9/16 thick (the 3:1 version) or 1 (the 2:1 device). The OffiWire s dies are steel so they can punch paper, plastic covers, and so on. There s also a side margin guide to accurately align your document for finishing. The OffiWire has a D shaped handle that can be utilized by both right and left handed users. Finally, this device has a metal chassis so you ll be able to use it for a long time.

2.) The Fellowes Quasar 130. This great product from Fellowes has a 3:1 pitch and it can handle wire spines that are up to 9/16 thick. It s capable of punching 15 sheets of paper at once and it will bind books containing a maximum of 130 pages. The punching is done vertically for accurate results. If you re unsure of which spine you should use for your booklet, the Quasar has a binding element selector to help you out. There s also a tray in which you can store your supplies. The Quasar has a very modern appearance that you ll love and it folds up so it can be easily stored. Finally, this machine comes with a two year warranty and a starter pack of binding supplies.

3.) The DFG Wire300. The Wire300 is a fantastic wire binder from DFG (formally known as the Digital Finishing Group). It has a 3:1 pitch and can punch up to 15 sheets at a time. This machine can close wire spines that range in thickness from 3/16 to 9/16 . The Wire300 has an open throat and fully disengageable pins so you can create booklets of different sizes up to 21 inches long. It also has an adjustable punching margin feature that allows you to control how far away the holes are from the edge of the paper. (This can lead to stronger booklets that will last a lot longer.) The Wire300 is backed by a one year warranty.

All three of these wire binding machines are ideal for smaller offices needing a way to quickly create professional looking documents. These machines are easy to use, are of the highest quality, and will make all of your reports, proposals, and so forth look fantastic.
