For true bubble hockey enthusiasts, nothing compares to a good competitive game on a well crafted table. While some people prefer the thrill of ordinary table hockey because the lack of a dome means anything can happen to the puck, others swear that nothing is as enjoyable as facing off with a friend or rival across that clear dome.
Sadly, many people assume they can only enjoy a match of bubble hockey at their local arcade, bar, or other entertainment venue. That is not the case. You can actually purchase your own dome hockey table for the home. Not only are these often found at sporting good stores, but you can find a large selection of tables from reliable and affordable vendors over the Internet.
If you re serious about purchasing one of the tables, consider the cost. Most of these tables range from about $100 at the low end to as much as $800. Now the price difference depends on a number of factors, including the quality of the materials used to make the table and the features included in the table. As you might expect, the cost goes up along with quality and the number of features. So you should decide how important a built in scoring mechanism is or whether you need the machine to make the sound of a cheering crowd each time you score a goal.
After making the purchase (or preferably before), you should take the time to determine a location for the bubble hockey table in your home. If you have a game room already, you can put it there. Even the best dome hockey tables are going to give you a few problems after a lot of use. For example, you might notice the rods are starting to stick which can be frustrating for players. The good news is you can apply a silicon lubricant to the rods to fix the problem or you can add some metal washers at the point where the rods go into the bubble hockey table. Either solution will work and will provide you with more hours of enjoyment with your table.
Another important aspect of dome hockey is the bubble. Don t forget to keep that part of the table clean and in good repair. Otherwise, no one will get to see the action going on down below on the ice.
