At the very core of any successful business venture are the hearts and minds of the creators. It is often necessary to go back to the basics of the creative process in order to move forward. Business like anything is a creation, and people are the creators.
In this article it is hoped to shed some light on the core principles of people who succeed in business be it home based businesses or big corporate business.
Core Principle 1: Ambition. Mediocrity is just not an option for the successful person. It is absolutely essential for the successful business person to have higher ambitions for themselves and others around them. They see themselves in high moral ground, earning high incomes, and always achieving and learning more and becoming a better person. The person that lacks ambition, is destined for mediocrity. For the person who is out there now and is reading this wondering what can I do to become ambitious, it would be a good idea to ask yourself what a difference it would make to help 10 strangers by doing 10 random acts of kindness? That would be a basic ambition to do more good deeds. It is a case of resolving with yourself to achieve more and set bigger goals.
Core Principle 2: Interest. Home Businesses that work are almost always run by highly interested and aware people. These people are the type that are always saying “oh that’s interesting” and they have an innate interest in new things and new enterprise opportunities. This interest is what keeps the business fresh and always flexible and ready to respond to changes in the operating environment.
Core Principle 3: Mindset. This describes the person’s way of thinking and general philosophy. It is a core principle as it affects the way relationships are handled, the way setbacks are handled and even how success is handled. It’s not going to be good if a person can’t handle success! A winning mindset is important as the person with it will realize the right thing to do at the right time, and maintains control at all times.
Core Principle 4: Standards. This is important. It may be the factor that separates mediocrity from outstanding business success. Let’s first look at goals. In a business it is a primary goal to make profits. This is simply to receive more income than costs and expenses. It is therefore necessary to have basic budgeting standards in place. For example; calculate ROI return on investment for all the investments that will be made. Profitability is important. If it fails the test it should be scrapped!! Simple as that! Set standards to inspire personal commitment

Core Principle 5: Values. These are the reasons behind some of the greatest commodities we have in the world today. Successful businesses have always had good core values, which have been inspired by the needs of people and society. A belief in and a healthy respect for life, and the right to freedom of speech, and movement have inspired the cell phone, and iPod and the many travel related products.
When you add up all these core criteria, you end up with a pretty powerful mixture of skills and business philosophy, and you can bet your bottom dollar that people like Bill Gates, Donald Trump, and co. know the power of these principles.
