How To: Hotswap With XboxHDM V1.9

Using the following method you can hotswap with XboxHDM v1.9.

You can easily rebuild your Xbox HDD using this method and you will not need your eeprom. You can also fix the other software issues. You will not have to worry about Error 16. You would need a certain basic accessories before you can hotswap with XboxHDM v1.9. Xbox, Xbox HDM v1.9, Torx screwdriver, CD writer and clean 5960 dash files.

To start with you must first get the Xbox HDM v1.9 to the HDD. You must insert all new Dash files by opening the linux folder C. in the E folder you must create two new folders. You will call on of the folders as TDATA and the second one should be called UDATA. Initially these two folders will be empty. Identify the ‘make iso win.bat’ in the xboxhdm folder.

Once you click ‘make iso win.bat’, a DOS like screen will appear and it will create the file linux.iso. The linux.iso file should be burnt using any of the burning software programs such as Nero. While burning the file, choose image files as the type of your file.

To hotswap with XboxHDM v1.9, shutdown your PC and let only your CD Rom drive connected. Make sure that the ROM drive is on your second cable. Switch on the computer with the CD that you created. Before switching on change the Bios to boot from the CD. In case your HDD is not recognized, shut down the PC and turn it on again while it is booting press the pause or break key. Make sure that it is pressed before the BIOS auto detects the HDD. You can now hotswap and proceed wit booting. Using the torx screwdrivers you must open the Xbox. After opening the Xbox the DVD IDE cable should be unplugged. Your console should be switched on and when you do so you will get error 12. As soon as you see the error, you must unplug the Xbox HDD IDE cable with out turning off the power. Make sure that your Xbox HDD and the DVD drive in the PC are not connected to anything else. Wait until the HDD is recognized while it is in the process of recognizing your HDD do not switch off the Xbox. Once it is recognized choose ‘1’ and type ‘xboxhd’.

In the next screen press ‘1’ and choose build a new HD from scratch’. After your new HD is created unplug the IDE cable and connect the Xbox cable for DVD and HDD. By doing this you will restore your Xbox to the original status. You would also have successfully completed the hotswap with XboxHDM v1.9.

Before you set out to hotswap, go through the instructions two to three times if you are familiar with such things. You are less likely to make mistakes when you do not rush through the process. This is one of the easiest way to hotswap with XboxHDM v1.9.
