If you have a helping tendency and want to be of assistance to the needy persons, then the good thing you can do is to equip yourself with training in first aid and get a certificate from the appropriate authority. This will give you the additional confidence and the means to be of use to the other person, especially in case of emergencies, and can help in saving a person’s life in such circumstances.

To get a certificate in first aid, all you need to do is to allocate some of your precious time to attend the classes and also a little amount of your pocket money, not exceeding 50 dollars at the max, towards the fees for the course.

There are two options for getting trained in first aid. You can opt to attend the classes conducted by the institute. Or else, you can also get trained through online certification courses offered by some companies, where you can learn the basics at your pace and leisure from the comfort of the home. Each of the two methods has its own merits and demerits.

The premier institutions that offer first aid courses and also award certificates for having completed the course include the American Red Cross and the American Health Association. Apart from these, many other institutions, hospitals, and non government voluntary organizations offer courses on First Aid.

All you need to do is to inquire about the classes in the local chapter of American Red Cross or similar voluntary organization about the courses and enroll there at your convenient time. The experienced instructors will teach the basics in theory and also demonstrate the activities practically. No special preparation or qualification is required to attend first aid courses. You need not even carry pen or paper to note down the points. All you need to carry with you to the classes is your attention and motivation to learn the skill and be prepared to help people in case of emergency.

On successful completion of course and clearing the examination, you will be awarded a certificate for first aid course, which will give you the courage to be of use in emergency and save a person’s life.

There are different types of First Aid Certificates such as; Health Care Provider CPR, BLS CPR Course, Basic First Aid Course, Blood Borne Pathogens Course, and Adult CPR Course. Now the question you might ask is, how long long can it take to obtain a CERT?

The term accreditation is an often misunderstood term in the CPR industry. No organization exists that provides a national endorsement or accreditation to any CPR course provider. The American Heart Association cannot approve, endorse, or give accreditation for CPR training for any other organization.

Each first aid certification provider is free to construct their own curriculum, standards, and teaching methods based on the ECC/ILCOR guidelines. American Academy of CPR & First Aid, Inc, courses strictly follow the ECC/ILCOR guidelines.
