Your headline is one of the most important parts of any article or sales letter. After all, if you can t get someone to read past the headline, what chance do you have of selling them anything? It doesn t matter how good your content is if the headline doesn t move the reader to dig in and digest what you have to say.

Research shows you have about 3 seconds from the time someone clicks on a link or finds their way to your website to capture their attention with the headline.

It s easy to spend a lot of time and energy trying to come up with a great headline. In fact, it would be impossible to guess the number of articles that never get written because someone got lost trying to come up with a clever headline that would intrigue the reader enough to move past it. So how do you get around the headline dilemma? Easy all you need are a few tips and tricks to cut through the headline block and get on with the article.

1.First trick – start in the middle. That s right, leave the headline until after your write the article and you will often find the headline will write itself. Once the actual article is written, the headline often becomes obvious. Try it next time you re stuck at the beginning.

2.Use what works there are plenty of article templates that are tried and true, so why waste time trying to reinvent the wheel? Surefire headline winners include things like “7 Ways to _____” and “Top Five Ways to _____.” These two templates alone will hep you write two articles on nearly any topic under the sun.

3.Save your customer time and/or money. If you have a product designed to save your customer time or money, use that in your headline! “Get _______ Now!” or “Are ______ Worth the Money?” are winning examples of how to entice your readers to follow through with your article.

4.Share a secret “Who Else Wants to ______?” “Little Known Ways to _____” or “The Secret to Achieving _____” will pique the curiosity of the most skeptical prospect. Even though someone might believe your just trying to sell something, few people have the resistance to take the chance that your product might really be the secret they ve been looking for.

5.Solve their problem Write your headline so it taps into your customer s fear and anxiety, so your article can point them to the solution. “Never Worry About ______ Again!” “Want to Lose (Gain) _____?” are irresistible ways to encourage someone to read your article. People want solutions to their problems, so use your headline to assure them you have it.

Remember, your headline makes the difference whether your article gets read or not. Taking the time to create a compelling headline is the most important part of any article. Using templates like these takes the work out of the process and helps you write headlines that get your articles read.
