In order to meet consumer demands for increased versatility and space saving convenience, more and more binding manufacturers are building combination binding systems. Here is a closer look at a few of the combination machines that are out there.

1. The Akiles DuoMac Line. By far the most unique, heavy duty, and versatile machines on the market, The DuoMac line of combination binding machines come in four different configurations:

* The C series (C51, C41, C31 and C21) give the user the ability to punch and bind in both the plastic comb style, and in spiral coil in pitches ranging from 2:1 to 5:1 depending on the model.

* The 500 series (541, 531, 521) which let you do spiral coil binding in a 5:1 pitch, as well as twin loop wire binding in pitches ranging from 2:1 to 4:1 depending on which machine you choose.

* The 400 series (431 and 421) which can punch and bind in the spiral coil style in a 4:1 pitch, as well as 3:1 or 2:1 twin loop wire binding.

* The 321 which binds both 3:1 and 2:1 pitch wire.

All of these machines bear the Akiles name, so you can rest assured that they are of the highest quality, rugged, easy to use, and built to last. All of the machines share the same price point, so all you have to do is decide which two binding styles best suit your needs, and grab the DuoMac machine that is right for you.

2. Tamerica Versabind Modular Manual Binding Machine. The Versabind binding machine give you a simple to use binding system that can bind plastic combs, 3:1 and 2:1 twin loop wire, and 4:1 spiral coil. The Versabind has manual punch that s able to punch twenty sheets that are up to 14 inches in length, as well as a manual binder and wire closer. The EZ Slide system makes changing dies a breeze, and the twenty four disengageable dies, depth adjustment, and margin control, makes the Versabind an easy, flexible, and convenient binding system.

3. Tamerica Versabind E Electric Punch and Manual Binding Machine offer the same versatility as the Versabind Manual, but with the speed, ease, and increased productivity of an electric hole punch. With the Versabind E, you get the same EZ Slide die changing system, and the ability to bind documents in the plastic comb style as well as twin loop and spiral coil.

4. GBC BindMate Personal CombBind and 3 Hole Punch System. Offering versatility at a price that anyone can afford, the GBC BindMate is a great, inexpensive choice for smaller office settings and home offices that want to have the ability to do plastic comb binding as well as having a rugged 3 hole punch on hand. This fairly unique binding system can help you bind smaller sized booklets in the plastic comb binding style with combs that are up to five eighths of an inch in diameter. The machine is able to punch six to eight sheets of regular paper at a time, and there s a comb opener located on top of the unit. The BindMate punch system will easily handle letter size and larger covers and comes backed by a 1 year warranty.
