As time seems to slip thought your fingers, you can not help but wonder where all these years have gone. It seems like just yesterday you were fast asleep in your bed, and your biggest worry was whether of not the boogie man really was in your closet. Those were the days weren’t they?
The days of infamous youth and oodles of energy seem to be a distant memory. Alas, at least your memories are still up to par, although at times it makes you wonder if indeed it is actually memories rather then your imagination. You can still see her, your blushing bride. It doesn’t seem like this is your golden years, your fiftieth wedding anniversary. You can still remember your first walk down the isle, and even what wedding guest favors were handed out at your reception to go along with your wedding party favors. It is amazing how all of these years have come to pass, and yet your feelings are still as strong as they were the day you first met her.
The time has finally come for you and you’re beloved to recite those vows once more, just as you had done fifty years ago. You gather all of your friends and family together to share in your joyous renewing of your vows. This time there will be old familiar faces, and the faces of those new additions to your family, all present. It is almost as if you have traveled back in time even though your wardrobes have been updated quite a bit since then. Although everything seems to have its own significance, the one thing which stands out more and need no indicator, is your love.
Just imagine what your parents would say if they could be present. Would they too rejoice and shed a few tears of happiness? Of course they would. Golden Year anniversary’s are very special, almost more so then the wedding which began its countdown. This is sure to be one celebration which will be hard to beat regardless how hard someone tries to. It will defiantly be worth making a scrap book and photo album for as well.
Sometimes the celebration of one’s golden year anniversary would seem like something unfathomable, mainly because it isn’t often heard of these days for marriages to last that long. To you however, although it is your golden anniversary, you still feel as though it were your wedding day. You also still feel the nervousness that you did on your wedding day too. You bride no longer as young as she once was, is still beautiful making her way down the isle, and blushing just as she did the first time. The faces in the crowd seem to fade and become invisible to your eyes, because to you, the only person worth seeing is your wife. This is what true love is made of; courage and persistence. This is what every waking moment of every single day of your life has been for. Your sole reason for being is simply to love, and to be loved. This is what everything amounts to. You and your wife, together forever or until death do you part. If only those younger couples these days knew what it would be like fifty years down the road, maybe then they too would cherish such memories like these.
