It is always exciting to hear about new products and Fellowes, one of the leading office machine manufacturers, has a whole bunch of them coming out just in time for the new year. In addition to several new paper shredders and binding devices, the company is releasing two brand new laminators: the Voyager VY 125 and the Neptune NL 125. These are two state of the art products that make lamination an easy process while still producing the great results people have come to expect from Fellowes. While these products look very similar (they could almost be twins), there are some big differences between them. Let s take a look....

The Neptune NL 125

* The Neptune is a wonderful laminator that would be great for any office, especially one that laminates frequently. It can completely laminate a document in under a minute.

* This machine has a 12.5 inch throat so it can accommodate wide format documents (such as posters), as well as smaller ones.

* With the Neptune, you can use pouches that are up to 7 mil thick. The device has four different temperature settings and four rollers so you can get a perfect looking document every time you laminate. Plus, you don t need to use a carrier.

* This device will warm up in 4 minutes. You ll know when it s ready for action because not only will a green light go on, you ll hear a beep. You won t have to stand over the device while it warms up to see when it can be used.

* Pouch jams will be easy to fix thanks to the Neptune s reverse function. Just hit the appropriate button when a jam occurs and you ll be back to work in no time.

* You will avoid the disaster known as an overheated motor because the Neptune shuts off automatically if you don t use it for a while.

* This device comes with a starter kit that contains 10 3 mil pouches.

As for the Voyager, it not only looks similar to the Neptune, it shares a lot of the same characteristics. (And it also comes with pouches.) The features these machines share are the same warm up and laminating time; throat width; automatic shut off; and four rollers that ensure a crystal clear laminating job. That s where the similarities end. Here s what s unique about the Voyager....

The Voyager VY 125

* This device can work with pouches up to 10 mil thick.

* The Voyager will automatically select the appropriate speed and temperature setting for the pouch you re using.

* If a pouch jam occurs, the machine will automatically go into reverse mode to take care of the problem.

* The heat the machine produces will stay inside the device because the walls have Fellowes patented HeatGuard technology. This feature includes insulated walls to keep heat inside.

* If the machine gets grungy from dirt or excessive adhesive, it will let you know so you can clean it.

* The Voyager has a clamshell design so you can open it up like you would a printer or fax machine. This makes it easy to clean the device, do any needed maintenance, and remove a jammed pouch.

Now that you know about these laminators, the big question is Which one do I choose? Either one would be a great choice because they re both high quality devices that produce flawless results. However, if you have the extra cash, spring for the Voyager. Its impressive features really make this machine something truly special. But whichever model you choose, you re guaranteed to love it.
