Unibind machines are some of the best thermal binding devices you can use. If you have one of these products, whether it s the small XU138 or the XU638 which has an astounding six heaters, chances are you re looking for space in which to store both your supplies and your machine. Something that can help you solve both those problems is the Unibind X Tower, a modular product that can serve as a storage cabinet for your Unibind supplies and provide you with a work surface if you place several of these items together. Here are the strengths and weaknesses of this product.

Strengths:

* The X Tower is a storage cabinet that stands about 17 inches tall. This makes it small enough to be placed on a flat surface such as a countertop. You could even store it under a desk.

* Each unit has enough storage space for 4 to 8 boxes of covers and/or spines, depending on the size of the box. This will keep your supplies handy and organized.

* Due to the X Tower s reasonably small size, you can stack one on top of the other to create a larger storage cabinet or to give yourself a work surface on which you can place your Unibind machine. The surface of a single unit is large enough to accommodate the XU138. If you place several towers together, you ll have a big enough space for the larger Unibind devices. You can even tack on another cabinet to give yourself some space in which to assemble your books before binding them.

* If you do decide to stack your units, lifting them will be easy since one only weighs about 13 pounds.

* This product is shipped flat to help you save money on postage. This method of shipping also helps the cabinet to arrive at your office without any damage. However, the utilization of this type of shipping means that you will need to put the tower together yourself. (More on that in a moment.)

* This product is gray and black so it will be an unobtrusive addition to any office.

Weaknesses:

* Since the X Tower is shipped flat, it needs to be assembled with an Allen wrench before you can use it. Assembling the item isn t too difficult, but it is a bit annoying to have to put the product together.

* While a single tower is pretty affordable, buying multiple ones will definitely put a dent in your budget. Also, all of the the supplies are sold separately.

* Some of the X Tower s parts are made out of plastic, including the rails that support the boxes of supplies. This product isn t really designed to support heavy items, such as fax machines or printers.

Overall, the X Tower really works best when you combine several units to make a complete surface/storage area. This product offers a fantastic way of storing your covers and spines, and it s great that a single tower can support the Unibind XU138. Therefore, if you re the proud owner of a Unibind binding machine, the X Tower is definitely something you ll want to get for your office.
