Bubble hockey has become quite popular today and because of that, there are now a lot of bubble hockey manufacturers around the world. In 1969, three Brunswick engineers named Bob Kendrick, Brad Baldwin, and Phil Crossman invented air hockey in their attempt to come up with a game involving a non friction surface. However, it would be several years before air hockey was revived and later finished thanks to Bob Lemeuix.

Because of air hockey s immediate success, tournaments were organized which eventually led to a bubble hockey World Championship. The game is most popular in the U.S.A. and most champions came from America although Jose Mora, who is from Venezuela, was a three time World Champion.

Later air hockey moved into the arcades and the tables were covered with plastic domes creating the modern bubble hockey table we all know and love. But why do we love it so much? Here are a few reasons for bubble hockey s popularity:

• Fast paced gaming action – You don t have time to get bored here! Kids especially enjoy bubble hockey since it allows them to be active and make as much noise as they want.

• Did we say noise? Noise is another reason why people, mostly kids, love playing bubble hockey. The click clack sound the puck makes as it is knocked across the bubble hockey table gets them all hyped up, and we all know how kids can be boisterous.

• Interactive game play – Because bubble hockey gives them a chance to actively interact with friends and family and it rouses a friendly competition which makes the game even more exciting and fun to play.

• Magic Kids are easily fascinated and the sight of the puck floating on air, across the bubble hockey table, is magical to a kid.

• Easy to Learn; Hard to Master Whether you re young or old, beginner or advanced, you can have fun playing bubble hockey. Beginners may take more time to learn and get the hang of other sports, but with bubble hockey, there is not much skill needed. You just knock the puck back and forth and hope it gets into your opponents slot while you protect your own goal. Of course when you set out to become a professional player, there are skills and techniques to be learned, but for those who just want to play the game for fun, it doesn t take a lot to learn to play bubble hockey.

Obviously, there are lots of great reasons to enjoy a bubble hockey table. Just remember that there are a few differences between air and bubble hockey games. In the latter, you play with a simulated hockey team while in air hockey it s just two opponents, two goals, and a puck. But you don t have the nifty plastic bubble. The choice is yours but bubble hockey never goes out of style.

Also when ordering on the web make sure you ask all the right questions prior to buying to make sure that you get the right table and avoid painful returns… who has time for that anyway!
